Number of air travelers on decrease
Published on Wed, Jan 27 2010 |
KARACHI: The number of air travelers in domestic and international flights has dwindled
by 20 and 10 percent respectively during 2009 as compared to the preceding year. Talking to Geo News, Travel Agents Association
Chairman Nadeem Sharif said the travel to the US and Europe decreased as the large companies axed their budget for international
flights. Also, another reason of the international travels going down is the issuance of less 75000 visas. Sharif said the
number of air passengers was seen surging on the routes of Malaysia, Turkey and Thailand, adding the number of domestic travelers
also went down by 20 percent. The international airliners gained more business than the national flag carrier in 2009.
